NXT 09/09/15

This week in NXT we saw the continuation of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and many more matches that show off the superstars and divas in ring technique. So without wasting any more of your time and patience we'll get started on this weeks review of NXT.

The first match up is "The princess of Staten Island" Carmella vs. Peyton Royce. This match up was a back and forth showing for both women wrestlers. You can also say it was the first time we see Peyton Royce enter the ring with an actual entrance. Now of course she's always had an entrance, but when your watching WWE you can tell how important the wrestler is if they show you the entrance or not. Usually they won't show an entrance of a jobber, which has been the case for Royce in the past. Now throughout the match you could see how different the styles of both women were. Carmella, being a jersey girl gimmick, has obviously been a dancer in one point of her life as she is always dancing around the ring, but once Royce starts to wrestle you can see that he wrestling technique, although good, not quite there with Royce. Royce shows great in ring technique as she takes on Carmella, the match is back and forth with each women trading headlocks. The match seems to be in Royce is favor as she starts taking control, but then Carmella locks in her finisher move, the inverted headscissors, and wins the match by submission. The match was ok, but it really showed off Peyton Royce who looks to have a bright future ahead of her. Its rare you see many girls come into WWE who have great in ring work, so this makes me happy to see as I am done with the pretty girls who can't wrestle to save their lives.

Second match of the night is another round 1 tag team classic match. The contestants of the match are the newly formed team of "Prince Pretty" Tyler Breeze and Bull Dempsey taking on the tag team of Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa. The match gets started with Dempsey trying to mimic his partner as he lays on the top rope. Breeze, who thinks that Dempsey is an "ugo," shows great frustration with Dempsey trying to mimic him. Then before the match starts Breeze insists on starting off the match and orders Dempsey to get in the corner. The match begins and Breeze isn't doing so well agains Ciampa. They tie up and Ciampa gets the upper hand, sending Breeze to his corner who then tags in Dempsey to take on Ciampa. Breeze looks like he wants no part of this match. Dempsey makes quick work of Ciampa and holds him down with an armlock. Breeze then orders Dempsey to tag him in. Once in the match Breeze starts to beat up Ciampa who has already been injured by Dempsey. The match goes on like this for a while until Dempsey, who was running to the ropes, accidentally knocks Breeze off. Leaving him open for a quick tag move by the challengers who then pick up the win. Ciampa and Gargano then celebrate in the ring as Dempsey lay there after his lose. Breeze gets into the ring and doesn't look to happy. As Dempsey gets on his knees Breeze then shoots out a nasty super kick to Dempseys temple. Breeze then goes on the attack and leaves the arena with Dempsey incapacitated. This is the start of a new rivalry for Dempsey and Breeze and I believe the two styles will mesh well. I can't wait to see how this one plays off in the weeks to come.

The third match of the night was a divas match. The contestants were Billie Kay vs. "The Total Diva" Dana Brooke. Billy Kay is in the same boat as Peyton Royce. She's a familiar face that I've seen as I watch NXT. She was once a jobber but now they are marketing both divas as new up and comers. This match was back and forth both divas dishing out all they had and leaving nothing in the ring. But Kay would not see the win as she was given a Death Valley Bomb for the 1, 2, 3 and lost to Dana Brooke. Now this review was short because I really want to talk about Dana Brooke. Brooke is a body builder who, still to this day, competes in competitions. She looked intimidating, she looked beautiful and she looked like she had a lot of promise, but boy was I wrong. Once she debuted all my hopes and dreams for her fell flat. She was so green in the ring it was cringe worthy, and I automatically hated her from then on out. Then she teamed up with Emma, who is an amazing wrestler, and she started to improve. Now she's alone and only has herself to back her up. And in this match against Billie Kay she showed that she has indeed improved. She's not an amazing wrestler yet, but there is hope for her. I am very much excited to see her live up to the title, "The Total Diva."

FINALLY ITS TIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! The main event for this card will be another first round match to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The participants were Fin Balor and Samoa Joe taking on the former NXT tag team champions Sin Cara & Calisto "The Lucha Dragons." The match started off with Balor taking control of the match. Then Balor and Samoa Joe clean house by knocking both members of The Lucha Dragons outside of the ring, then they head to commercial. Once back it shows that Balor has lost most his momentum from the beginning of the match and Sin Cara now has the upper hand. Sin Cara and Calisto both tag in and out trying to wear the NXT champion down so they can score the win. Finally Balor gets himself enough time to then get Joe in with the hot tag. Joe then goes in like a bat out of hell and demolishes his opponents. The match ends with Joe delivering the muscle buster and tagging in Balor who delivers his finisher Coup de Grace (a jump off the top turnbuckle and landing on his opponent with both feet like a stomp). The match was fun and exciting but of course it would be with The Lucha Dragons as they always bring excitement with their fast paced style. Fin Balor and Samoa Joe are now headed to round 2 of the tag team classic, but their teaming up only makes me suspicious as to what this will lead to. Will Joe turn on Balor and attack him, declaring himself number one contender for Balors NXT title? Or will Balor and Joe win the tournament and decide to face off against each other as respected opponents? The possibilities are endless as is the WWE. Stories may end but the adventure always continues. Until next time. PEACE!
